Ronja Frizen
Performer / Assistant
Ronja began her artistic career with preliminary dance training at the Rheinische
Musikschule in Cologne. There she was prepared for training as a contemporary dancer
alongside her schooling, and in addition to dance practice, she had various opportunities to
perform and gain her first experiences of artistic practice as part of her preliminary training.
After completing school, she moved to Hamburg, completing a five-month preparatory
seminar at the Stage School Hamburg, where she deepened her knowledge of singing and
acting in addition to her dance experience. This brought her into contact with the
Contemporary Dance School Hamburg, where she completed her training as a contemporary
stage dancer from 2014 to 2017. As part of this, she worked with international artists
including Helder Seabra, Damien Fournier, Fernando Domingues and Ursina Tossi.
After moving back to Cologne, together with other artists she founded the student musical
association ‘M.A.S.C.’, in which she was part of the artistic direction and head of the dance
department from 2018 to 2022.
In 2019, she began studying sports at the German Sport University Cologne with the focus
on management and communication. Since 2022 Ronja works as a student assistance at the
institution for dance and movement culture at the German Sports University of Cologne. As
part of the researchproject #vortanz she worked with a focus on the use of AI and digital
tools within dance education. One focus was on the use of the Onlineannotationtool
Piecemaker from the cooperation partner Motionbank. Since October 2024 she is part of the
researchproject “Comesport” in which the focus lies on the potential uses of VR glasses in
dance.
She is currently studying for a master’s degree in Dance at the German Sports University
(M.A. Dance - Research, mediation and artistic practice).
Since 2019 she is a permanent member of the dance theatre ensemble “Little Red Chair
Ensemble” in Cologne with performances in Cologne and Frankfurt. At the same time, she is
and has been artistically active in various projects, combining research, artistic practice and
mediation, f.e. ‘BeHave’ as part of the Museum Night Cologne 2023 with Simone Kieltyka,
‘Performance Garden’ as part of the Museum Night Cologne 2022 with Ruth Prangen,
