Matthieu Götz was born in 1980 in southern Germany with french-german background. He studied architecture at Kassel University and École d’Architecture Paris-Malaquais and Egyptology at Freie Universität Berlin. From 2008 Matthieu Götz has been working at Staatstheater Kassel and later at Schauspielhaus Bochum. Since 2011 he has been working as a freelance stage designer.

He has taught Architectural History at Kassel University from 2012-2018 and since 2019 is regularly participating in archaeological fieldwork in Dahshur and Qantir/Piramesse in Egypt.
