Jessie Lhôte

Choreographic Assistant / Performer

Jessie Susan Lhôte (1992) originally from Montpellier (France) has lived in Canada for 17 years. With an atypical background, she began her professional training at Epsedanse (Montpellier) and completed her degree in contemporary dance at The School of Dance (Ottawa).

Based in Montreal since 2014, Jessie works as a freelancer through several projects, short films, companies and festivals in Canada and Europe. She worked for company MAYDAY with choreographer Melanie Demers for a short-film presented by the city of Montreal (2014) and for the performance of « Mere Human » (2016). As part of the programmation of Danse Danse (Place des Arts) in Montreal, she performed « Rose of Jericho » with company Skeels Danse under the artistic direction of Andrew Skeels (2016), followed by a tour in Canada (2016-2019).

For 6 years, Jessie worked for companies ODD and Dorsale Danse in Ottawa, collaborating and presenting several works from choreographers Yvonne Coutts, Sylvie Desrosiers, Tedd Robinson and Jocelyn Todd (2016-2023). She had the opportunity to collaborate with company Lawless dance (Jocelyn Todd) performing different pieces in Ottawa and at « the Place » in London (UK).

Aspiring to broaden her artistic vision, share and expand her knowledge between her geographical roots, Jessie recently based herself between Belgium (Antwerp) and France (Montpellier). As a performer, teacher and choreographer, she had the chance to create a piece for the contemporary professional program at The School of Dance in Ottawa (2022), teach at Oficina Zero in Portugal (2021), work for a youngsters dance festival (2016-2023) and at the Guelph Youth Dance Center near Toronto (2019). Jessie has been assisting choreographer Helder Seabra and more recently for the project Human Instruction Manual, a commission project for the young audience company Fabuleus (Belgium). Passionate by movement and well being, she recently became a naturotherapist and yoga teacher.
