Diogo Oliveira

Performer

Deeogo Oliveira, 32 years old, was born in Porto, Portugal. Influenced by his older brother, he developed a passion for breakdancing at the age of 9. After mastering the discipline, he was invited to compete around the world, earning awards in various countries with his group, Momentum Crew. Due to accomplishing numerous national and international titles at an individual level, Deeogo was recognized and supported by the National Olympic Committee (COP) to represent Portugal in the "sport" of Breaking.
In his career, he considers the production “Almada nada” by Ricardo Pais (2014) a pivotal moment, where he rediscovered the skills developed in Breaking and transformed them into his artistic career. Notably, he was recently nominated by Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores (SPA) for Best Dancer in the Piece "Lago Libidinal" by Jonathan Uliel Saldanha.

As a performer, Diogo has collaborated with renowned figures such as Ricardo Pais, Vitor Hugo Pontes, Né Barros, Willi Dorner, Radar 360, Ensemble Sociedade de Atores, Jorge Gonçalves, Helder Seabra, Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, Projecto Cardo, Jaime Monsanto, among others.

As a choreographer, he made his debut in 2018 with "SOLO," a co-creation with director Manuel Tur, followed by "Kokoro" with Ana Isabel Castro, a piece that is still on National Tour. Invited by Erva Daninha he created and performed “Ninguém” an independent solo to present in Teatro Municipal do Porto.

Recently, he choreographed “A Night in the Belly of the Beast” at the invitation of Ensemble and Teatro Municipal do Porto, and “Constelações” by Projeto Cardo, in collaboration with Music Conservatories of Braga and Guimarães. Simultaneously, he developed “A Coragem de ser Eu” a trilogy of pieces that form the subject of his Master’s studies in Choreographic Creation at Escola Superior de Dança.

He also made a significant contribution to the field of education, serving as a Dance and Interpretation Instructor at the Academia Contemporânea do Espetáculo (ACE), Conservatório de Dança do Norte (CDN), Balleteatro Escola Profissional, Oficina Zero, Gretua (University of Aveiro), Escola Artística da Jobra, Pallco conservatory of performing arts, Instituto Nacional de Artes do Circo (INAC), Formação Avançada em Interpretação e Criação Coreográfica (FAICC), among others.
